SAN ANTONIO - For the last few years, there has been a notion that safety Roy Williams could possibly be moved to the linebacker position if he just put on a few pounds.
As it turned out this off-season, if Williams is moving anywhere from his strong safety spot, it could be to the free safety position. That's because Williams is down to 221 pounds, the weight he played at during his rookie season.

While that's only down from the 229 pounds he played at last season, Williams actually might be The Biggest Loser on the team, dropping 26 total pounds this off-season after jumping up to 246 pounds while vacationing and relaxing.

"I really did get heavy," Williams said. "But I did a program called Isagenix. It's a weight program and it got me down."

Isagenix is a 30-day fat-burning program that Williams said helped him monitor his eating habits, which he admitted turned sour during the off-season.

Williams said the Cowboys coaches asked him to get to 225 pounds for the start of training camp. "But I challenged myself to go lower than that," Williams said. "This is for me. It was a personal goal that I wanted to do."

While Williams has been often criticized for his lack of pass coverage at times, he said shedding the extra pounds will undoubtedly make him not just lighter on his feet, but quicker to the ball.
"It's a huge difference for me," he said. "I'm flying around. I'm full of joy and energy."

Now as for moving to linebacker, the Cowboys are still planning on using Williams closer to the line of scrimmage in passing situations. Expect Williams to play a nickel linebacker spot that will give him the flexibility to blitz and drop back in coverage, depending on the offensive formations.
